The Raveonettes Release First Song From Upcoming Album 'Observator'

Denmark's fetching, fuzzed-out rockers The Raveonettes have revealed the first track off of their upcoming sixth album, Observator, set for release on September 11 on Vice Records.

Listen to the dreamy, haze-drenched, piano-spiked "Observations" below, now available as a download (not free) on the band's site. A slew of North American gigs is also on the horizon this fall, including a stop at New York's Webster Hall on October 5. Melody's Echo Chamber will support those autumn shows.

Singer and guitarist Sune Rose Wagner points to "Observations" as a "blueprint" for Observator, which took all of seven days for Wagner and partner Sharin Foo to record in Los Angeles with producer Richard Gotteher who also worked with The Raveonettes on Pretty in Black.

"It captures a universal feeling of the outsider in his daily life," says Wagner, "his longing and losses in love and his primordial instinct of survival."
