TAS Live Review: Queens Of The Stone Age At Brooklyn Masonic Temple, June 7

Despite an apocalyptic downpour, 1200 rabid fans packed the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on Friday night to hear Queens of the Stone Age blast through their latest album, ...Like Clockwork, in its entirety.

There were no bells. There were no whistles. Hell, there was barely any chatter. It was just 80 plus minutes of straight forward rock songs that were meant to be played live. Oh, and if you had any worry about the departure of drummer Joey Castillo, this show would have put you at ease. His replacement, Jon Theodore (formally of The Mars Volta), is a beast and slaughtered song after song.

After completing the album, the gentlemen caused many a fanboy (and girl) to lose their collective minds with an encore that consisted of: “You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, but I Feel like a Millionaire,” “No One Knows,” and a soul-rattling version of “A Song for the Dead” that nearly ripped the roof off of the place.

Torrential rains. Strong winds. Whatever. Tropical storm Andrea ended up being an afterthought once Queens of the Stone Age blew through Brooklyn. — Erika Clarke
