Brian Fallon: The McKittrick Hotel 2016
Brian Fallon came to The Heath at The McKittrick Hotel to play. Not just to play his music, but to play with the audience and his interviewer (me).
Best known as the lead singer and frontman for The Gaslight Anthem, Brian was there to perform songs from his debut solo album, Painkillers, in a stripped-down, solo acoustic setting. Along with some great music we heard a running commentary on why the venue (also the home of Sleep No More) scared him, the benefits of wearing double denim, the pleasures of pedal steel guitar, and a sense of concern that I was about to ask him some unscripted questions.
The answers to those questions included resolving the exact location of his New Jersey hometown, why he wrote a wonderful song about Steve McQueen, and the secret behind the color of "British racing green." Take a listen below and find out for yourself.
