Bronx Lawmakers Push for Senior Aid Bills

New York Senior Citizens may be receiving more funding and housing to improve their golden years.
Ira Wiseman is a regular at Riverdale Y Senior Center. He says that although he still works, he struggles paying some of his bills.

"Utility bills and rent are sometimes a struggle to me, definitely," Wiseman said.

New York Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) and Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz (D-Bronx) are working together to pass legislation that would help develop more senior housing, and reduce medical co-pays.

Another Senior Center member Joan Siff supports the bill. She said while she is not in need government aid, it is important to help those who are.

"I don't mean it'll be easy, I don't mean it'll be the greatest thing in the world, but I think it'll be helpful," Siff said.

Klein and Dinowitz are touring senior centers to get feedback from those the bill could help.
