Connecticut GOP Hoping for High Turnout for Tuesday's Primary

Tuesday is the GOP presidential primary in New York and Connecticut. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has all but wrapped up the Republican nomination. But party organizers in at least one state are still urging voters to turn out.

Jerry Labriola is Chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party. He says even though Tri-State residents won't have much impact on this year's nomination process, it's still very important for Republicans to vote in the remaining primaries.

"This is a dry run for November," Labriola said. "Get to know where your polling place is. Get used to making that ride to the polls, and do it again six months later when all the chips are on the table."

Labriola says the Connecticut GOP hasn't shifted its focus away from the presidential race since Rick Santorum dropped out earlier this month. He say, if anything, they're boosting their efforts.

"Being strong at the top of the ticket will just certainly benefit our entire party down-ballot," he said.

Despite the state GOP's efforts, officials are expecting a low turnout.
