David Shaw: The Loft at City Winery 2025

Although David Shaw is best known as frontman of The Revivalists, he's also taken flight as a solo artist in his own right, releasing a second album in 2024 called Take a Look Inside, released on his Yokoko Records.

The contemplative album digs deep into Shaw's internal storms, quietude, and quandaries as he lives a sober life. His path to parenthood also inspired one song outside the boundaries of himself, powerfully addressing women's reproductive rights ("Alabama"). The many shades of "sober," as he's described it on his website, shaped his songwriting on this album, notably on the title track, "Take a Look Inside."

Shaw treated FUV's Marquee Members to a concert, hosted by Eric Holland, at the Loft at City Winery. Watch videos of three songs: "Arms of the River," "When You Love Somebody" and "Lost and Found."
