Florists Stay Busy For Valentine's Day
With Valentine's Day quickly approaching this week, the pressure is on to get your special someone a gift. For florists, the pressure is on to deliver the florial arrangments on time.
Nic Faitos is the Senior Partner at Starbright Floral Design in Chelsea. His company expects to send out 25,000 red roses from his Manhattan flower shop by the end of the holiday. Faitos says there are a lot of factors that make Valentine's Day one of the busiest times for florists, that includes customers' expectations for their delivery to get to the right place at the right time.
"We need to have all deliveries finished at about 5 p.m. because if your sweetheart comes home from work and there's no flowers on the desk, someone's in trouble."
In addition to traditional roses, Faitos says there's a growing trend for customers to design their own bouquets to highlight their specific relationships.
He also says some of this years "hot alternatives" to the rose includes purple tulips and green orchids.
