FUV's New Dig album spotlight: Lucius with 'Wildewoman.'

Wildewoman
Mom + Pop Music

There is an exciting new sound rising above the musical clamor in Brooklyn: the vivid, playful pop of the band Lucius. Like a burst of multi-colored sunshine, the songs on Wildewoman, the debut album from Lucius, explode with bright, modern-day girl group vocals, propulsive and primal rhythms, and brash melodies.

There is so much happening in these songs that it's hard not to become engulfed by the dense chamber pop. While songs like "Turn It Around" and the galloping title track are gleefully upbeat, Lucius also knows how to dial things down, like on "Go Home" and "Two Of Us On The Run."

The focal point of Lucius is the female vocal team of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, whose voices blend like one throughout the songs, which they also wrote — with help from bandmate Dan Molad. Although the whole band is credited with producing Wildewoman themselves, it was Dan who took the driver's seat in creating this wonderful racket. Rounding out the band's lineup is Peter Lalish and Andrew Burri.

It's going to be fascinating to see where Lucius goes next, but for now, allow the blissful Wildewoman to brighten your skies.
