Morning Brief: August 6

News that a man was hospitalized in New York City’s Mt. Sinai Hospital with ebola-like symptoms played very differently in the city’s various newspapers.

  The Daily News led with “EBOLA SCARE IN CITY,” while the Times didn’t even cover the local aspect on its front page, instead reporting of the outbreak from Liberia.  Good news for all: it’s likely not ebola, but officials are waiting for confirmation from the CDC to make sure.

WEATHER

Mostly cloudy today, with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight.  High of 83, low of 65 [full forecast].

NEED TO KNOW

Two tourist busses collide in Times Square, injuring at least 15 and closing down 7^th Avenue for hours [NY Times].

A 2-Star General died in an attack in Afghanistan [Newsday].

NYC police officers unions said a chokehold was not used in the death of Eric Garner [WFUV News].

SPORTS

The Mets topped Washington 6-1.  They take on the Nats again tonight at 7.

The Yankees took the Tigers to extra innings, and the game ended too late for press.

The Bombers play Detroit again at 7 tonight.
