NJ Governor Aims to Clean Up Waterways In Time for Summer
Governor Christie says the most important issue for the future of New Jersey is to rebuild the shore.
During Superstorm Sandy, buildings, cars, boats, and all kinds of debris were washed into Barnegat Bay in Ocean County. Today, it's still there.
Governor Christie says he's focused on cleaning out the waterways so there can be a normal boating season this summer.
Jeanne DiPaola, Ocean County's Director of Tourism, says water sports and activites drive the tourism industry in the county.
Governor Christie added that work is underway to restore New Jersey's shores.
"There's nothing more important to the future of New Jersey than to rebuild the Jersey Shore and get ourselves back to a new normal for the state."
Governor Christie made his comments at a press conference in Bradley Beach where he toured a restoration project.
