NYC Councilman Van Bramer Wants CitiBike in Queens ASAP
Superstorm Sandy delayed implementation in May.
Queens Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer is calling on the D-O-T to more quickly bring CitiBike to Long Island City and other parts of Western Queens.
Van Bramer and other community leaders point to tourism, health, and commuter benefits as ways the bike share program can improve their borough. The D-O-T plans to install ten bike docking stations in Long Island City as early as September but Van Bramer says that isn't soon enough.
"We deserve bike share. There is no such thing as a five borough bicycle plan if it doesn't include Queens."
Long Island City was supposed to be part of CitiBike's official launch on May 27th but was set-back by Super Storm Sandy.
