Sunflower Bean: Rockwood Music Hall 2018
As New York City trio Sunflower Bean releases its second album, Twentytwo in Blue, it’s readily apparent that the band has undergone a pretty significant maturation process over the last two years.
After touring the world over a couple of times, opening up gigs with Pixies and Wolf Alice, bassist and singer Julia Cumming, guitarist Nick Kivlen and drummer Jacob Faber took a short break and got right back into writing and recording. The present political climate had plenty of influence on the new songs and the band has discovered a new sense of confidence and swagger.
Sunflower Bean's show at Rockwood Music Hall back in January gave some lucky FUV members a chance to preview of bunch of the new record. There are lots of highlights from that show including “Crisis Fest,” a tune reminiscent of vintage Joan Jett, plus “Burn It,” “Sinking Sands,” and a surprise Neil Young cover.
