UKNY for February 23

At last year's SXSW, Miso Extra's late-night set at the British Embassy outdoor stage was witty, kinetic, and warm, spotlighting what a great performer this singer, rapper, and producer has rapidly grown to be in just a few years. Born in Hong Kong to Japanese and British parents and raised in Japan and Britain, she began to call herself Miso Extra as an anime alter-ego — and a way of combating racist taunts and finding her own agency as an artist.  Miso Extra is now on the cusp of releasing her debut album, Earcandy, on May 16 via Transgressive and on "UKNY" tonight at 11 p.m., another terrific track from that record.

Ezra Collective are back with new music, their first release since their Brit Award-nominated 2024 album, Dance, No One's Watching. The Glaswegian sibling duo called Cloth have announced their new album, Pink Silence, and have a golden sunrise of a new song.

Also in tonight's hour: Hull's bdrmm, Brighton's Lambrini Girls, Bristol's Mould, and more from Scottish-American duo Witch Post. Plus, a new song from the late Nell Smith, the Leeds-born, Canadian-raised singer, songwriter and Flaming Lips collaborator who tragically died last year at age 17. Her posthumous debut solo album, Anxious, will be released on April 18.
