FUV brings four great nights of music to Zankel Hall at Carnegie

We're so happy to announce the upcoming series of FUV Live shows at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall. Here is the lineup:

John McCauley & Friends - October 27, 2012
Lisa Marie Presley - November 17, 2012
Loudon Wainwright III - January 26, 2013
The Flatlanders - April 13, 2013

This is our 8th season of presenting some of our favorite artists at Carnegie’s famed Zankel Hall, a beautiful, intimate space offering music fans one of the best listening experiences around.

This season promises to be a another great one, showcasing the eclectic range of WFUV’s artists. Opening night will present one of the finest and busiest young songwriters of our time, John McCauley. He will perform with his principal band, Deer Tick, along with friends from side projects including Middle Brother and Diamond Rugs. This is sure to be a rocking show.

Lisa Marie Presley will make her Carnegie debut performing songs from her latest acclaimed album, Storm and Grace. Lisa Marie, who recently relocated to England, worked with Richard Hawley and Ed Harcourt writing this batch of personal songs that clearly reflect both her modern life and her Southern roots.

Loudon Wainwright III will make us laugh with his honest, poignant songs. His most recent album, Older Than My Old Man Now, addresses what he calls “death ‘n’ decay,” looking at the subject of aging from a variety of angles. The father of Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche (all acclaimed singer/songwriters in their own right), Loudon is also an accomplished actor, appearing on large and small screens for the past 40-plus years.

The Flatlanders is the combination of three legendary Texas songwriters — Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, and Jimmie Dale Gilmore — who recorded a seminal album in 1972 that set the stage for every Alt-Country band that followed. Each of them has gone on to enjoy accomplished solo careers, coming together occasionally to perform live. This will be an historic, not-to-miss performance.

All shows begin at 10:00pm, with plenty of time for a nice dinner beforehand.

Tickets for the series go on sale this Friday, September 14 at carnegiehall.org, at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, or by phone via CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800.
