WFUV's Gala: Laughter, Tears and Serious Music

The WFUV Gala was Thursday. Want a peek inside the room?

It was a stellar night at Gotham Hall on Thursday, May 10th when WFUV honored some of our favorite people: Chris Isaak (for music), Christiane Amanpour (for broadcasting), Al Michaels (for sportscasting), and Michael Dorf (for community service).

Joan Osborne opened up the night by singing "The Weight," a bittersweet trbute to Levon Helm that set the tone for a serious but joyous evening. We said goodbye to some friends (Levon Helm, Pete Fornatale.) Awards were presented, thanks were given, people were unexpectedly funny, and then Chris Isaak brought his band out to play a serious set of tunes. Here are some highlights in photo form:
